Therapy to the Balkans: Marsela in Conversation with Rick Doblin

Healing Balkans Founder Marsela Pećanac sat down with Rick Doblin, Ph.D., Founder and President of the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS), for a wide-ranging conversation about psychedelic-assisted therapy, the science of healing trauma, and what it could mean for communities still living with the legacy of war.

The discussion brought together two perspectives shaped by very different paths — Rick’s decades of research advocacy in the US, and Marsela’s lived experience growing up during the siege of Sarajevo — united by a shared belief in the power of addressing trauma directly rather than letting it pass silently through generations.

For Healing Balkans, conversations like this one are part of a broader effort to bring evidence-based, culturally grounded approaches to trauma treatment into the region — opening dialogue with the people and organizations at the forefront of this work globally.
